Welcome to Buzzard Class
2018-2019 will be the last time you will see these pupils at Tyndale Primary School. We are going to improve and develop new skills so we can conquer any challenges that we may face in the future!
We have our own class email! If you would like to contact us, please do so with the secure form below- we will be checking it regularly. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
PE WILL NOW BE ON A TUESDAY (BASKETBALL) AND WEDNESDAY (GYMNASTICS)
During Term 2, we will be using the inspiring text ‘Wonder’ by R. J. Palacio as a stimulus for our writing. This is a story about a young boy, August, who has Treacher Collins Syndrome. The plot takes us through his very first days at school and we learn how he is treated by others just because of the way he looks. We will go on a journey with August and discover the emotional roller-coaster that he takes as he steps into school life.
In addition to this, throughout the term as well as using the text, we will be learning some more incredible science based on evolution and inheritance where we will learn all about how genetics are inherited through living things.
In term one, our enquiry question is…
How were the people of Britain affected by WW1?
This was our final week!! Can you believe we have completed a whole term already! WOW it flew by.
In English, we found out that our beloved Charlie has died! He was shot by his own firing force! We have made an incredible display of our work from Term 1.
We have been multiplying 2 digit by four digit numbers and multiplying decimals numbers as well as learning how to use long division to divide four digit numbers by two digit numbers
This week in Mathematics we have been learning about factors, multiples and multiplication. Using the compact method we have been successful in solving Th H T O's x by T O's questions.
On Friday we created Clay Poppies for the remembrance service being held at St Mary’s Church. We will then paint them ready to be collected soon.
In maths we have been learning about the order of operations through BODMAS. We seem to have mastered this learning in year 6.
In our English lessons, we have been writing letters in first person back home to Mother, Molly and Big Joe based on our class text, Private Peaceful. We have found out in our story that Tommo and Charlie have been sent to France to fight in WW1.
Life skills at The Create Centre-
WOW- that was pretty immense! Today we learned all about how to keep safe when helping others in dangerous situations. We were set tasks in different scenarios where we had to call the Emergency Services. We learned about how to stay safe near the rail line and that it can take a 125-train 2km or 1.25 miles or 20 football pitches to stop!
There was a scenario where there was a house fire. We had to call the fire brigade to support us.
It was AMAZING!!!
This week we have practicing our handwriting. Please have a look at our fabulously neat work!
This week in Buzzard we have been working hard on our learning…

This week we have been focusing on our Key Stage book “The Day the Crayons Quit.”
