Learning to Succeed

Kestrel

Share with your children what they learnt in assembly from our special railway visitors. Will they remember the correct answers in the quiz?!

Welcome to Kestrel!

Updated for Autumn Term 2

Welcome!

My name is Mrs Portergill and I am the class teacher for Year 3 the Kestrels 2017-18. Working alongside me will be Mrs Douglass, Mrs Matthews and Miss Lang. If you have any concerns or fabulous news to share please come in and see us.

PE

PE will take place on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Your child will need a PE kit (shorts, t-shirt and daps or trainers.) PE kit can be kept on your child's peg and should be in school at all times. As it will be colder this term please send in joggers and hoodies for outside work.

Reading Books

Your child will come home with two reading books a week a story and a non- fiction book. Please read with your child every day, it is so important! Re- reading books, within the week,  is encouraged as your child will become more familiar with the story or articles. Try asking the children questions; they'll enjoy sharing their knowledge of the story!

Spellings

Spelling tests take place on a Friday. Your child will be given new spellings on that day as well. They have a week then to learn the spellings and complete the short task before returning the sheet to their spelling teacher.

Times Tables

Autumn Term 2- 4 times table.

Please practise regularly. The children have learnt a song as well as saying 1 x 4 etc. They may well surprise you!

Topic and homework

This term we will be learning about The Romans. Home work is changing this term; please see the separate homework sheet.
