Updated for Term 5
My name is Mrs Portergill and I am the class teacher for Year 3 the Kestrels 2017-18. Working alongside me will be Mrs Douglass, Mrs Matthews and Miss Lang. If you have any concerns or fabulous news to share please come in and see us.
PE will take place on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Your child will need a PE kit (shorts, t-shirt and daps or trainers.) PE kit can be kept on your child's peg and should be in school at all times. This term we are outdoors, focusing of rounders and athletics.
Your child will come home with two reading books a week a story and a non- fiction book. Please read with your child every day, it is so important! Re- reading books, within the week, is encouraged as your child will become more familiar with the story or articles. Try asking the children questions; they'll enjoy sharing their knowledge of the story!
Spelling tests take place on a Friday. Your child will be given new spellings on that day as well. They have a week then to learn the spellings and complete the short task before returning the sheet to their spelling teacher.
Please practise regularly. The children will have learnt a song as well as saying 1 x 8 etc. They may well surprise you!
This term our topic is a history focus. We will be looking at Ancient Egypt. Homework has been sent out on this topic. The first piece of homework will be due in on Thursday 3rd May. The second piece will be due in on Thursday 24th May. Every child will be expected to showcase their work, giving an explanation about it.
