Tyndale Primary School

Academic Review Days

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are writing to you to communicate our upcoming plans for facilitating Parent Consultations this year. These plans have been made reflecting the covid guidance we need to follow to keep all pupils, parents and staff safe.

At Tyndale Primary School, we firmly believe that parental support and consistent involvement in a child’s education is paramount to their academic progress. Due to risk assessments, Parent Consultations, as previously held, will not be able to take place and we have replaced these with year group ‘Academic Review Days’ which are designed to allow parents and teachers to discuss pupil’s progress.

What is an Academic Review Day?

You will be invited into school via an appointment system to meet with your child’s class teacher. The purpose of this meeting is to work in partnership with the class teacher to support your child pastorally, showcase your child’s work and to discuss your child’s:

  • Academic progress
  • Readiness to learn
  • Behaviour
  • Home reading engagement
  • Attendance
  • Additional provision (if applicable)

How do I book an appointment for my child’s Academic Review?

On your child’s academic review day, their class teacher will be available to book appointments with from 8.30am until 5.30pm. We recognise the need to ensure your child’s class teacher’s availability fits around your busy schedules.

Due to our belief of the importance of your involvement in your child’s education and the benefit this has, we will be expecting our teachers to meet with the parents/carers of all the pupils in their class. Where this is not possible, we will schedule a mutually convenient phone call to do the academic review on the same day over the phone.

Shortly, you will receive both an email and a text from our communication system inviting you to your child’s academic review day. All you will need to do is follow the link you receive in the text or email and select a convenient time slot available for your meeting with the class teacher.

Our communication system will then remind you of the time and date of this meeting one week before it’s due to take place and then send another reminder the day before.

Where do I go on the day?

On your child’s academic review day, you will need to report to our school office no more than 5 minutes before your appointment. We ask that you wear a mask and sanitise your hands upon entry. We will be holding these meetings in the first office from our school entrance, they will be socially distanced from the class teacher and the door to the office and the windows will remain open throughout the meeting. The appointments are for 15 minutes, we ask that if you’d like to discuss anything further then you book another meeting with the class teacher or senior member of staff by contacting our school office please.
